Fundraising and volunteering is an important part of the Smithers Figure Skating Club. We are a non-profit organization and fundraising is necessary each year to operate the Skating Club. Registration fees and Province of BC Gaming Grants only cover approximately 70% of the costs with our major expense being ice rental fees. Fundraising helps make skating affordable for all families in the Bulkley Valley.

Volunteering Requirements

Volunteer Cheques

Every year each family submits a $250 volunteer cheque dated for March 31, which will be cashed at the end of the season if volunteer requirements are not fulfilled. Cheques will be collected at the beginning of the season. The skating year is broken down into 2 sessions, fall and spring. Skating families are required to volunteer 4 hours or fund raise during each session.
